We deliver solutions to our clients every day by combining our industry understanding and depth of technical excellence across the principal service areas of Infrastructure, Environment and International Development.

Alzia Forage provides an integrated approach to water quality services and water supply options that support sound management choices and anticipate future water demands.

Alzia Forage’s specialists understand difficult challenges, present multiple perspectives, and work with stakeholders on building cost-efficient, sustainable approaches to solve complex water issues. We partner on projects, providing services such as identifying feasible water sources, forecasting regulatory issues, supporting stakeholder integration, and developing balanced water portfolios.

Surface water sources

Surface water sources were investigated through a comprehensive review of hydrogeology data, as well as contaminated sites and other factors affecting water quality. Alzia Forage’s teams then mobilised to the field to collect water samples from prospective sites following strict sampling and handling criteria. Our experts monitored these sites through the course of the year looking at summer and winter flows, as well as sediment and in-stream ecology.

Groundwater can be a lifesaving resource in times of drought and a cost-effective way to store seasonal water supplies. It can be a critical resource but equally a significant hindrance to mining and construction projects and can be a pathway for contaminants or indispensable source of water for the environment.

Soils and rock containing metalliferous sulfides can, if disturbed by excavation or drainage, react with the atmosphere to oxidize and produce acidic, saline, and metalliferous drainage (AMD) associated with quarrying and mining or disturbance of acid sulfate soils (ASS).

Our clients require reliable and sustainable water supplies, predictable inflow rates and groundwater management costs and confidence that the risks of impacts of their projects on groundwater and surface water quality, other groundwater users, and groundwater-dependent ecosystems are minimized.

GHD's hydrogeologists and geochemists provide specialized groundwater services for mining, civil, agriculture, water supply, and wastewater management. Our services include:

Acid and metalliferous drainage (AMD) or acid rock drainage (ARD) assessment

Acid sulfate soils (ASS) assessment and management

Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR), Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR), or Water Banking

Borefield design and installation

Dam seepage assessment

Dewatering investigations and groundwater management for excavations, mines, and tunnels

Down-hole geophysics and camera investigations

Groundwater contamination assessment, remediation, and management

Groundwater exploration, data acquisition, resource assessment, development, and management

Groundwater impact studies

Integrated surface water and groundwater flow and contaminant transportion modeling

Soil salinity risk assessment and management

Our hydrogeology services are delivered by teams of integrated professionals around the world and can provide local knowledge backed up by global experience. Our team members range from cost-effective but experienced field personnel to hydrogeologists, modelers related disciplines with over 30 years of experience.

Comprehensive Consulting Services

WSP USA offers comprehensive consulting services in every facet of hydrogeology. Areas of expertise include hydrogeologic and groundwater resource assessments, environmental investigations, and numerical groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport modeling. We have specialized expertise in assessing construction and mine dewatering projects and developing innovative water management approaches. Our team continues to maintain state-of-the-art capabilities to accurately and cost-effectively characterize contaminated sites, especially those that have a complicated groundwater component. We have extensive experience in conducting contaminant investigations in unconsolidated soil and bedrock environments and at sites where groundwater and surface water interact.

Our hydrogeologists apply scientific knowledge and analysis to understand groundwater-related issues, including assessing the quantity, quality and availability of groundwater.
